Encouraged by mild early-Spring sunshine and stunning South Island scenery, a group of 20 runners (and a few cheerleaders) made the weekend trip north of Christchurch to the annual Kaikoura Whale Run. This community-run, friendly event was a favorite race for a few employees last year, and the stunning backdrop and mix of road and trail running justify the increased number of entries this year.

Running at the foothills of the impressive Kaikoura Seaward mountain range, the Syft Technologies running group outshone themselves with impressive performances in both the 10 km and half marathon disciplines. The effort was spear-headed by German intern Nico Neubrand who won his half marathon age-category, with staff members Robert Kennedy and Ben Reyngoud also making the top five.

Congratulations to all Syft entrants, and a sincere thank you to the race organizers for putting on such a fun and enjoyable event.
