Real-time, comprehensive SIFT-MS analysis of chromatographically challenging odorous compounds (e.g. amines and organosulfurs) has been utilized in new research from Australia, which investigates the effect of a chicken’s diet on the odor flux from its litter. Odor flux also correlates with moisture levels in the litter.

SIFT-MS has two major benefits for odor flux studies – the combination of which is unique:

  • Direct, real-time analysis enables simple monitoring of the dynamic release of odorous compounds
  • All odor compounds are selectively and quantitatively analyzed in the same analysis by means of rapidly switchable reagent ions and elimination of chromatography.
