Continuing the Syft Technologies tradition of travelling near and far in search of beautiful places to run, a small contingent of Syft interns and staff recently embarked on a six-hour road trip to take part in the inaugural Sky Runner Queenstown race.
The race is a remarkable one, taking competitors down steep switchbacks at breakneck pace before drawing them up to the incredible peaks of Ben Lomond, where the views of Queenstown and the surrounding areas were so captivating that even the most competitive runners couldn’t help but stop and take a few photos. The conditions on the day were perfect and despite steep tracks that at times reduced the run to a brisk hike, the team of eight “Syfties” performed well, managing no less than four podium finishes in the 3km and 10km races.
The race was followed by a refreshing swim in Lake Wakatipu, a night out in Queenstown and then a long but musical drive home.
