After strong showings in a number of running, duathlon, triathlon, or multisport races around the Canterbury region over the last year, Syft Technologies continues to promote the benefits of fresh air and a little exhilarating competition.
Syft presented a team of six at the recent Mt Oxford Odyssey Mountain Marathon held in the Oxford Forest Conservation Area in inland Canterbury on Sunday 21st May. The six entrants representing Syft – Dan, Helena, Rob, Sylvain, Yohann, and me – battled their way around either the 15km or half-marathon course in lovely sunny weather following the first snowfall of the year.
After a spate storms during the week prior, followed by a frosty night, highlights were patches of solid ice above 700m elevation (all the way to the summit of Mt Oxford at 1364m) and the mid-shin deep mud below the bushline!
Congratulations to all the entrants, and deep appreciation to the race committee for organizing such an excellent event.
