Making the most of the recent long weekend, 15 of Syft’s finest headed down south to participate in what has been described as ‘one of the World’s most scenic running events’, the Queenstown International Marathon. We had entrants competing in both the 10km and half marathon length events, with racing staged on stunning trails along the banks of the Shotover River and the striking shore of Lake Wakatipu. There were some stellar performances on the day including from some of our newest employees and interns. And big congratulations to Sam Lam for earning himself a coveted Syft running shirt!

Post-race saw the temperature in Queenstown rise to 26ºC and the runners plunging into the cool waters of the Shotover for some cold-shock therapy followed by a hearty BBQ of recovery fuel. A spot of BYC (Backyard Cricket), for those that felt they hadn’t had enough exercise already, provided a great opportunity for some of the international interns to experience a classic Kiwi summer tradition.

Well done to all that made the trip down to the adventure capital of the world to run hard and play hard. Also, a big thanks to the event organisers and all the volunteers who gave us the opportunity to race the flat out beautiful course.
