The 2017 JSAE Annual Congress (Spring) was held from May 24th to 26th in Yokohama, Japan. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE). Over 400 exhibitors and numerous lectures, forums, and technical presentations were organized for this event. Syft published a technical paper in conjunction with our Japan distributor, Kinryo Electric, to demonstrate how SIFT-MS can analyze whole-cabin air quality in real-time.
The paper was well received by over 50 attendees from various automobile research institutes, OEMs, and related organizations. The audience was very interested in the ability of SIFT-MS to analyze all major chemicals of concern in a vehicle cabin in less than two minutes at great sensitivity.
The selectivity of the real-time SIFT-MS technique remains its most intriguing feature for many people. They see great potential with the eight reagent-ion system that Syft Technologies offers. In particular, the benefit of ionization using negatively charged reagent ions enhances selectivity for aldehydes in complex hydrocarbon matrices.
