Yan holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and a M.E. in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. After completing her degree, Yan worked in various roles in the medical and chemical process engineering research fields as a scientist.

Yan joined Syft in 2014 as an application specialist, providing technical support for the development of new SIFT-MS applications with a focus on the Automotive VOC analysis and Industrial Process Control.

The last few months have been extremely busy for Yan Li, the leader of the Syft Technologies’ Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ) project team. The impact of increased testing requirements in the automotive industry continues to drive growing interest in high-throughput analysis using Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry (SIFT-MS).

AutoTPO Conference and Exhibition in Detroit: In early October, over 800 people from the industry attended the AutoTPO conference, which is focused on automotive applications of polyolefins. Yan Li’s gave two presentations discussed rapid testing of whole cabins and component emission testing using SIFT-MS, each of which were attended by over 30 people – from the raw material supplier to OEM ends of the chain. Feedback on our SIFT-MS solutions was excellent.

In-Vehicle VOC Emission Summit in Beijing: More than 50 companies attended this summit in early November. Topics ranged from government officials interpreting the regulation trends in China to OEMs and raw material suppliers presenting their recent advances on how to reduce VOC emissions.

Progress with OEMs: Syft Technologies continues to experience strong interest from major OEMs in both Europe and North America, including BMW, Daimler, Opel, Jaguar-Land Rover, Ford, and General Motors.
