Syft Application Talks 5: Determination of the Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction End-Point

For the majority of pharmaceuticals, the final step in drug substance isolation relies on drying for removal of organic solvents used in upstream synthesis, to deliver a pure API fit for downstream formulation and drug product manufacture. Current approaches for release rely heavily on sampling with off-line analysis to establish the end point of drying. Using SIFT-MS, an online measurement system has been devised, which has enabled real-time, high-resolution analysis of the performance of various conventional and novel drying technologies, with little requirement for analytical method development. Example results and benefits of this approach are discussed.
